When the White House released President Barack Obama's 2012 Spotify playlist last week, it was a shock to see the absence of hip-hop tracks. The president is a self-proclaimed rap fan and has been supportive of the music.

The 29 songs on the list favor old-school R&B, rock and country -- by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Earth, Wind and Fire, Raphael Saadiq, Ledisi, Jennifer Hudson and Darius Rucker. --Christina Isaacs
